Hydrojetting
When the flow of water through your sewer line is interrupted, it’s usually caused by a clog or obstruction within the pipe. Most clogs are formed by the accumulation of grease, dirt and grime along the walls of the sewer line. Other materials like hair or foreign objects get caught in the sticky residue further constricting the flow of water through the pipe, until a full blockage occurs. Other sewer line stoppages are caused by the growth of roots from nearby trees into the sewer line. These invasive roots naturally seek moisture and restrict flow within the pipe.
A valuable tool in addressing tough clogs like these is hydrojetting. This method of drain cleaning uses a volume of water under high pressure (up to 4000 pounds per square inch) to blast through even the most difficult clog. As the water rushes through the pipe, it clears away most of the accumulated grime and dirt along its walls.
Sewer Cleanout Installation
A sewer cleanout is a pipe off the sewer line that has been capped. A cleanout can be extremely useful for the inspection or repair of your sewer line by providing easy access for tools like hydrojetting equipment or video camera inspection devices. By adding a sewer cleanout you will be lowering the cost of future repairs and maintenance by making the task of assessing and fixing the problem easier and quicker.
You may already have cleanouts along the drainpipes inside your home and assume that you may not necessarily need to add another. There is one significant benefit to adding a sewer cleanout outside your home near the foundation. If a clog occurs, the sewer line and drainpipes leading up to that clog become charged with waste. Opening a cleanout will expel all that waste from within the pipes into your basement. Opening a sewer cleanout that is located outdoors will also expel the contents of the pipe, however, at least the mess will not be inside your home.
